Antheia

A jacquard textile collection
2021

During Spring 2021, the woven textile collection, Antheia was created. At that moment, I was still a beginner learning how to create woven structures with multiple weft systems using the jacquard machine. As a result, the colored yarns were unintentionally mixed and produced new shades on the reverse side. The unexpected result motivated me to combine the different shades of yarn to expand the possibilities of colors on the fabric surfaces.

The name ‘Antheia’ is derived from the name of a goddess of flowers from Greek mythology. The sublime aesthetics of women and flowers were conveyed through the feminine curved lines. This concept is represented through illustrations on woven textiles for home decorative purposes.

Mood board

This piece used only 3 yarn colors. I optimized the amount of color by using the weft-faced and warp-faced weaves.

The 6-weft systems weave structure was applied with 6 different yarn colors in this piece.
